FAQ
Epoxy Flooring Questions, Answered
Straight answers to the questions people ask most about epoxy and resin floors in Celina and nearby towns.
Cost and estimates
How much does epoxy flooring cost?
It depends on square footage, slab condition, the amount of grinding and repair, and the system and finish you choose. A free written estimate gives the real number for your floor.
Are estimates really free?
Yes, with no obligation, for homes and businesses throughout the service area.
Why do quotes for the same garage vary so much?
Usually because of preparation and materials. Ask each quote how the slab will be prepared, how thick the system is and which topcoat is used.
Do you publish prices?
No. Prices depend on the floor, so they are given in writing after the slab is seen or described in detail.
What should I ask when comparing quotes?
Ask how the floor will be prepared, the system thickness, which topcoat is used, how cracks and joints are handled, and what cure times to expect. Those answers explain most price differences.
Process and timing
How long does installation take?
Many garages take one to a few days depending on size, repairs and the system. Commercial projects are scheduled around the business.
How long before I can walk or park on it?
Foot traffic usually returns before vehicles. Exact times depend on the products and temperature and are included with your estimate.
Does the garage need to be empty?
Yes. The floor must be clear for grinding and coating, so plan where cars and stored items will go.
Is grinding really necessary?
For a lasting bond, yes. Grinding removes weak surface material and contaminants and opens the concrete so the coating can grip.
Do I need to be home during installation?
Usually not for the whole project, but access to the space, power and water should be arranged ahead of time.
Performance in North Texas
Can epoxy handle Texas summer heat?
Yes, with proper prep and a topcoat rated for vehicles. Hot-tire pickup mostly affects thin, poorly bonded coatings.
Will the floor turn yellow?
Standard epoxy can amber in UV light. UV-stable topcoats such as polyaspartic or polyurethane are used where sunlight reaches the floor.
What about cracks from clay soil?
Cracks are cleaned and filled before coating. Coatings do not stop a slab from moving, so active structural movement should be evaluated first.
Is an epoxy floor slippery?
Any smooth floor can be slick when wet. Grip additive in the topcoat adds traction where it is needed.
Can epoxy be applied in cold or very hot weather?
Resins are applied within the temperature range the manufacturer specifies. In summer that can mean early starts; in winter it can mean waiting for a mild stretch.
Care and longevity
How long does an epoxy floor last?
Well-prepared residential floors commonly last many years. Commercial life depends on traffic and maintenance.
How do I clean it?
Sweep or dust-mop, then damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh acids and citrus degreasers.
Can the floor be refreshed later?
Yes. The topcoat can usually be abraded and recoated to restore shine without starting over.
Can you fix a failed DIY coating?
Usually the old coating is ground off, the slab is repaired, and a professional system is installed.
Will the floor stain?
Coated floors resist most stains when spills are cleaned promptly. Long contact with harsh chemicals can mark some topcoats.
